The 2008-W Uncirculated Silver Eagle was sold by the United States Mint directly to the public. This coin is considered to be a collectible version of the popular bullion coin.

This coin is differentiated from the bullion coin by the appearance of the "W" mint mark to signify the West Point Mint. The coins are also struck on specially burnished blanks which produce higher quality coins.
