2006 20th Anniversary Silver Eagle Set was issued to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Silver Eagle Coin.  The set contains three coins: one proof Silver Eagle, one uncirculated (burnished) silver eagle, and one special Reverse Proof Silver Eagle.  This is the first time the US Mint used the reverse proof minting technique.

The sets were limited to a mintage of only 250,000 and sold out within a few weeks of their offering by the United States Mint. The Reverse Proof Silver Eagle contained in the set is viewed as a unique issue of a complete Silver Eagle Set.
